San Jose, CA – On February 14-16, 2025, thousands of gaming enthusiasts will converge in San Jose, California, for Genesis X2, the premier grassroots, community-run gaming tournament that has grown to become a global phenomenon. Genesis X2 is raising the bar with new expansions and exciting additions that promise an unforgettable experience for both competitors and attendees.
Returning to its roots in Super Smash Bros., Genesis X2 will once again host tournaments for the legendary Super Smash Bros. Melee and the modern hit Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, both of which have drawn unprecedented levels of international interest this year. Ultimate will feature a massive roster of Japanese players making their way to San Jose, while the East Geek Smash stream team from Japan will co-stream the action live, bringing an extra layer of global excitement to the event.
One of the major highlights for Genesis X2 is its designation as the only official offline North American Red Bull Kumite qualifier for Street Fighter 6. The winner of this thrilling competition will secure their place in the prestigious Red Bull Kumite main event in Paris, cementing this year’s tournament as a must-attend for fighting game enthusiasts. Another exciting addition to Genesis X2 is its inclusion in the prestigious 3rd Strike Jazzy Circuit, which continues to elevate the legacy of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and solidify its place as a cornerstone for the fighting game community.
